Anti-IS forces move in on Falluja, Iraq - BBC News

Iraq has been collapsing under the weight of terrorism, US intervention, and corrupt government. ISIS seems relentless in its goal to form a theocratic state from both Iraq and Syria. The Iraqi Army a few days ago attempted to take Falluja. This will be an almost impossible task. When the Saddam Hussein regime was overthrown, that became a major area of resistance to US forces. The insurgency became more powerful across the country and the US responded by a troop surge.President Obama, no wanting to repeat his predecessor's mistakes decided to withdraw US forces. There was still a presence, mostly US intelligence in Erbil. The attempt to depose Bashar Al-Assad created ISIS and now the President has sent military advisors to Iraq. It is clear that more US military escalation will continue. The parallels with the Vietnam War are growing and it seems that the United States will be stuck in a long term conflict.
