Benjamin Netanyahu Fabricates History

Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once implied that Palestinians had a role in the Holocaust. The Holocaust was planned by Nazi Germany and Arabs were not active in the atrocities in Europe. Netanyahu makes the claim that Hitler only wanted Jewish people removed from Europe. Adolf Hitler believed in social Darwinism and eugenics, which the only conclusion to those beliefs were genocide. Amin al-Hussseini was a collaborator and Arab nationalist  to Nazi Germany, but had no role in planning the Holocaust. The collaboration with the Axis powers was a means to undermine British and French imperialism in the Middle East. Arabs probably would not have been better off in a world dominated by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. The Israeli right fabricates history as a justification for anti-Arab racism. The Zionist state can only survive, if European Jews have preference. Adolf Eichmann was the main architect of the Holocaust. The Arabs are paying for what Germany did to Jews during World War II. The irony is that the Jewish refugees fled Europe to escape persecution and violence. Now the Israelis are inflicting it on Palestinians.

Gustavo Petro Elected President of Colombia

There has been a shift in the politics of Colombia. The country has elected its first leftist president. Colombia was under right-wing administrations for a number of decades. The country had struggled with problems related to narcoterrorism and civil war. Francia Marquez will serve as vice president to the Petro administration. Gustavo Petro was active in the M19 group a guerilla organization that fought the government. Gustavo Petro also was mayor of Bogota and currently served in the senate. Leftism is making a comeback, after a number reactionary governments spread across Latin America. Honduras was the first to fall by coup. Then came Brazil and there have been attempts to depose the government of Venezuela. Nicaragua and Cuba have been targets of external conspirators. Colombia might find itself a target of US interference considering it is a leftist government. Colombia has since 1964 been in conflict with a number of right-wing paramilitary groups and leftists guerilla forces. The peace deal with FARC did not end all hostilities. President Gustavo Petro must navigate  through a country plagued by political factionalism, conflict, and the threat of  a possible coup. While there are both domestic and foreign policy challenges, his election is a victory for Latin American leftists.

Julian Assange Discusses The Release of Iraq War Documents ( 2010)

Julian Assange is on his way to being extradited to the United States. Both political parties Democratic and Republican have animosity for Julian Assange. The reason relates to the release of documents regrading America's abuses in both Iraq and Afghanistan. A large body of evidence shows the United States engaged in war crimes. Whistle blowers have been persecuted  in the United States for exposing corruption and human  rights violations at the highest level of government. The documents that were released in 2010 show that 104,000 Iraqis died in a period of six years. The 400,000 documents reveal torture, abuse from the coalition installed government, and the murder of civilian populations. Wikileaks also exposed that between a six year period deaths in Afghanistan came to 20,000 people. Assange was accused of being a Russian asset and a national security risk for exposing the crimes of  both the Bush and Obama administration. Assange if he comes to the US will not be safe. As of 2022 there are legal efforts underway to prevent his extradition. It can be argued that he is being falsely imprisoned, because Assange did not commit a criminal offense. Press freedom and journalism are under threat from a political establishment that does not want their abuses known.

Former Bolivian President Jeanine Anez Sentenced To Ten Years In Prison

Jeanine Anez was sentenced to ten year in prison for illegally taking   power and violating the Bolivian Constitution. The accusations against Evo Morales committing electoral fraud were false, inducing a crisis. Morales' removal hints to a lager conspiracy. The right-wing political factions and the US organized a coup against his government. Anez claims she is innocent and a victim of political bias. Her argument was that she became interim president, because the nation was in such turmoil. The elections of 2020 were held, but it was clear the Bolivia became more divided. Jeanine Anez was unable to get elected, because too many people saw her as a conspirator. The Morales presidency did much in terms of poverty reduction and protecting the rights of the indigenous people. When Jeanine Anez served as interim president the Movement to Socialism Party found itself being suppressed. Anez is not the only one who had a role in the coup. While she remans in prison various sympathizers are active in both the government and military. Another coup could happen if such conspirators are not dealt with. The political crisis in Bolivia was reminiscent of the Cold War era. Right-wing political figures and the military would depose leftist governments. This was done with the assistance of the United States. Rarely do nations jail their former leaders. Even if they are sentenced, they will never serve its full length. Bolivia is now faced with growing corruption, the threat of coups, and those active in intrigue on the behalf of external forces. The progress made in the 2000s and 2010s might disappear. The arrest and imprisonment of Jeanine Anez will not stop Bolivia's challenges. What it demonstrates is a leader can be punished for egregious actions. Constitutional violations must be taken seriously to prevent Bolivia from becoming authoritarian.

Choe Son Hui Has Become Foreign Minister of North Korea

North Korea has selected a new foreign minister. Choe Son Hui will now have the position in the DPRK. The move comes as tensions are rising in Asia. Choe has experience in the diplomatic service. She was one of the major figures in nuclear negotiations  with the United States. Those talks have not advanced the reduction of tension between the two countries. North Korea could easily be caught up in the US-China competition in the Pacific. North Korea has currently embarked on an arms buildup in response to regional developments. The country has conducted nuclear tests and it should be assumed at some point it will obtain an arsenal. The reason for the nuclear program is to deter US military action. North Korea might be a target for US regime change operations. Sanctions have not stopped North Korea's nuclear programs or arms buildup. The Asia pivot policy has worsened relations between China and the US. North Korea can exploit this situation by showing it is of vital interest to China. The foreign policy vision that Choe Son Hui has is not exactly clear. Considering that she was part of earlier talks there might be a chance for an agreement. The nuclear envoy to the US did not produce favorable results. One objective of Choe Son Hui could be to get the United Nations sanctions lifted. One demand that was made last year was an end to in her words "hostile US policy." This was in response to military drills conducted with South Korea. Choe Son Hui is the first female foreign minister of North Korea. The rise indicates that women are getting more power in the regime.

Sri Lanka's Economic Crisis

Sri Lanka has fallen into economic turmoil. The crisis has become so severe that food and fuel are in short supply. Reports of Sri Lankans attempting to leave the country have been circulating. The common destination is Australia where prospects are better economically. Inflation and shortages have also made the public more resentful of their government. Rice production was negatively impacted with the ban of chemical fertilizer. Rice is a staple for the country and the policy endangered food security. The ban was repealed, but farmers and fishers were harmed from the policy. The economic crisis is tied to a political one. The Rajapaksa family has dominated the politics of the island. Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned as prime minister and other members of his family have done so. This does not mean their involvement in politics is over. Mahinda Rajapaksa has served as prime minister multiple times. A return to power would be no surprise for a powerful political family. The corruption that has been a part of the system has resulted in civil unrest. Sri Lanka might need major economic assistance. Sri Lanka  then would fall into massive debt that it would never be able to pay. India's influence could grow from the crisis. India is providing financial aid during the worst economic crisis Sri Lanka has seen. Sri Lanka seeks at least $6 billion  to get some relief. Options are limited to either the IMF or more aid from India.
