What is a Neutron Star?

A neutron star is a star that has collapsed.  The particles of the star are compressed together and form a dense pack of neutrons. These stars form from supernova remnants. Neutron stars have strong gravity including potent magnetic and electrical fields. NASA has recently produced a computer simulation of what would happen if these two stars combined. Scientists now are convinced of the possibility of black hole formation from two colliding neutron stars. If this is true, it could radically alter the understanding of stellar evolution.
