ISIS, Taliban call truce to fight US-backed forces in Afghanistan - military officials

As the unity government continues to weaken, the Taliban grows stronger. Abdullah Abdullah and President Ashraf Ghani  are at an impasse and are unable to reconcile political differences. These disagreements could escalate into civil war between the two men who want to rule Afghanistan. The negotiations with the Taliban have gone no where and to complicate matters, ISIS has made an appearance in the country. The United States refuses to leave after nearly two decades of war. This occupation of US forces is fueling the increase in terrorism and instability. The Taliban and ISIS are now allegedly collaborating with each other on a temporary basis to fight the US and the corrupt government. Even the Afghan army has cases of soldiers attacking US and NATO troops out of frustration of being occupied by foreign nations. The conflict will not ended until all US troops are gone. This reveals that the Taliban is not a unified force. It is many armies fighting various groups. Afghanistan has become the Vietnam quagmire that the US has attempted to avoid since 1975. The Ashraf government could be on the verge of collapse. If this happens it may force the next US president into another prolonged conflict with no positive outcome. The current deterioration in Afghanistan proves that nation building can not be made to be a successful project.
