President Barrow has reshuffled his cabinet in attempt to avoid political crisis. Gambia is continuing to struggle after the removal of Yahya Jemmeh in 2017. When a longtime leader gone, the successors often struggle to reform or change political systems. President Barrow did not give a specific reason for the change in positions and ministries. One can only speculate that he is attempting to consolidate political power. Adama Burrow has been in office for a year and yet debt as well as corruption continues to plague the Gambian nation. This will take some time to reverse. However, if Barrow continues to embrace a economic policy that does not promote development, employment, or infrastructure projects his presidency might not survive. Gambians are growing restless and want change, but it may not happen as rapidly as some would hope. President Barrow did inherit a country that was under stern rule of Jemmeh from 1994 to 2017, but at some point this may not be a suitable excuse for a public struggling economically and demanding political change.
