Kim Jue Ae And The Question About North Korean Succession

Rumors have circulated that Kim Jong Un is in poor health or dying. These claims have not been confirmed. The reasons for these claims could be a way for South Korea to undermine North Korea. Tensions have once more sparked between the two countries. North Korea stated it will resume propaganda broadcasts to the South and will put more weapons at the border. If Kim Jong Un were to pass away, questions remain about his successor. The speculation is that his daughter Kim Jue Ae would become head of state. All of North Korea's leaders have been men. This would be a major change in North Korean politics. It is uncertain if the one party state would operate differently. Little is known about Kim Jue Ae or her foreign policy perspectives. The assumption is that ties with China will be maintained and South Korea will retain enemy status. Kim Jong Un does have a son, but there are no indications he wants to lead North Korea in the future. Rumors circulate either as part of psychological warfare or attempts of defectors to destabilize the regime. The North Korean state censors and controls information. Getting reliable intelligence is difficult. Kim Jong Un is only 42 years of age. That makes him younger than most  current world leaders. Kim Jong Un's reign could last longer than anticipated. Kim Ju Ae is thought to be born around 2012 or 2013. She only made public appearances around 2022. Her appearing with her father made some believe that Kim Jong Un selected a successor. It is too early to verify if Kim Ju Ae will become the next General Secretary. Social media rumors are not useful sources of information regarding North Korea.
