The law was unable to prevent the Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount merger. Paramount's purchase of Warner Bros.-Discovery by legal definition is a violation of anti-trust laws. Monopolies are resurging and it is a pattern that was started by Disney. The trend began in the 2010s and continues. Skydance will have ownership to a number TV channels, film production companies, and news stations. Layoffs are now predicted to take place across various companies. Not only does this reduce competition, it harms quality of entertainment. Unrestricted corporate power also negative impacts reporting and news. A single narrative or the suppression of dissenting voices will become more common in cable news. More viewers recognize bias or deceptions and will no longer watch. The film industry is struggling to get customers back into movie theaters. Forming conglomerates is not going to make film production recover. A concern also arises that a collapse of Skydance could put the entertainment industry in crisis. There are limited legal pathways to force Skydance to break up. Anti-trust laws need updates to counter a new wave of corporations.
