Reik Machar has fled South Sudan. His exact location still remains a mystery, surrounded by rumors of being in the Congo. Machar's political disagreements with Salva Kir escalated into both a crisis and civil war in South Sudan. The world's youngest nation seems to be falling apart. It was Machar that decided to take up arms against the government when re was removed from the vice presidency. Now with attempts at an agreement brokered by neighboring nations, Machar seems to realize he cannot survive politically in an atmosphere of peace. There are probably certain preparations Machar is doing in this self imposed exile. Machar is looking for support from other nations so that his forces can take over at some point. If the regional protection force is present it can restrain President Kir from taking drastic measures. The UN passed a resolution authorizing more troops in South Sudan. The Neur and Dinka conflict could easily replicate a Rwanda situation if UN interference continues. It appears there will not be peace in Sudan for a longtime. A major power struggle is emerging between two men who have authoritarian ambitions in government.
