The birth place of former leader Muammar Qaddafi was been taken over by the Islamic State. Government forces are attempting to take it back. The UN supported puppet regime has requested air strikes to assist. This could ultimately be a failure considering Libya does not have a functioning government. The Obama administration continues to deny responsibility for the country's destabilization and civil war, Two factions based in either Tripoli or Benghazi are trying to unify the country under their leadership. This is impossible under the intense ethnic hatreds that emerged during the NATO invasion and civil war. The United States has essentially created another Afghanistan in North Africa. As the years pass it can be seen this was the administration's most disastrous policy. Russia and China's mistake of voting for Resolution 1973 cost them dearly. Now those two countries are faced with an even more empowered and aggressive US destabilizing areas in both Europe and Asia. Regime change caused the increase in terrorism globally and a migrant crisis. Libya will probably not be able to reach the level that it once was after such devastation. With more refugees coming and Europe getting overcrowded, the US will eventually either have to stop nation building projects or accept a psychologically shocked African and West Asian population.
